Art Spark Youth Art Awards
The Gap Creative supports and celebrates inspired local creatives across all disciplines, as part of fostering this creative spirit in 2025 we launched the Art Spark Youth Art Awards to nurture and encourage the next generation of artists in our suburb.
The competition is grouped into age categories and open to local student artists up to 19 years of age. We love to see entries of all forms of visual art, 2-dimensional or sculptural and want to encourage the creation and submission of original pieces, show us your imagination, creativity and vision. With prizes from a range of sponsors including Eckersley’s and BCC’s Museum of Brisbane we encourage all our participants to continue to explore the world of creativity and culture that our community has to offer.
Art Spark also runs in conjunction with The Gap Creative’s signature gallery exhibition giving young aspiring artists the chance to have their work exhibited long side our members at our annual show. It is at this event that we invite our gallery guests to vote on people’s choice awards and a guest renowned Brisbane artist will judge and select our winners closing out the weekend with the Art Spark Awards prize giving ceremony.
At present we open Art Spark entries to young artists attending local art schools and The Gap State High School. If you run an art school/studio in The Gap and are interested in getting your students involved with the competition, contact us via email at tgcartcomp@gmail.com

Entries Open: 1 April 2026
Entries Close: 10 June @ 3pm
Exhibition Dates: 19th to the 21st of June 2026
People’s Choice Voting: Friday 19th and Saturday 20th June
Prizes Awarded: Sunday 21st of June 2026, 2:30pm in person at The Gap Creative, Local Matters Exhibition, Tula Gallery – The Gap State High School
